CHICAGO LAWYERS' COMMITTEE AND PARTNERS ADVOCATE AGAINST IN HB 1334 AND THE POST-CONVICTION DISENFRANCHISEMENT PROVISION OF HB 1116

March 17th, 2023:  

Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, Count US Indiana, the Indiana State Conference of the NAACP, and the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum—Indiana sent a joint letter to Indiana Senator Walker, advocating for the removal of Section 4 from HB 1116, which expands felony disenfranchisement. March 19th, 2023: 

Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, Common Cause Indiana, the Indiana State Conference of the NAACP, and the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum—Indiana testified before the Indiana Senate Elections Committee in opposition to HB 1334, which requires additional fields of identification in absentee ballot applications and consequently increases the disenfranchisement of marginalized communities.
